
On Saturday, March 29, 2025, the book Robots in Medicinewas promoted at Hotel Materra. This is the first Croatian edition that systematically explores the application of robotics in healthcare.
The book, authored by Prof. Dr. Sc. Gojko Nikolić, Prof. Dr. Sc. Željko Šitum, Assoc. Prof. Prim. Dr. Sc. Vjekoslav Jeleč, and Prof. Sonja Vrban were presented to an audience of professionals from the medical, scientific, and educational fields.
This publication combines the author’s experience and knowledge in technical sciences, medicine, and education. Through an accessible and well-argued approach, it provides an overview of how robots actively participate in various branches of healthcare today—from surgical procedures and diagnostics to rehabilitation, patient care, and prevention.
The keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. Nikolić, emphasizing that robotics is no longer the future but an integral part of modern hospital routines. Dr. Sc. Tomislav Kalem, Director of the International Medical Center Prior, presented the work of advanced robotic systems Da Vinci Xi, Mona Lisa Dx, and Histolog Scanner, Mona Lisa Dx i Histolog skener, which are already in use in Croatian hospitals.
The book's publication was financially supported by Marko Pipunić, President of the Management Board of Žito Group, who highlighted the importance of investing in medical excellence and technological development. The presentation of this book reaffirmed that Croatia has the knowledge and capacity for the systematic implementation of advanced technologies in healthcare.
